Terms & Conditions

Welcome to ZĒNE.

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) apply to your use of the ZĒNE website and to purchases of ZĒNE event tickets and other services made through our website.

Please read these Terms carefully before using our website or purchasing a ticket. By using our website or purchasing a ZĒNE ticket, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. About ZĒNE

ZĒNE (“ZĒNE”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is a social reading club focused on books, conversation, culture and community.

Business name: ZENE SOCIAL Ltd

Email: hello@zenesocial.com

Registered address: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ.

2. Using our website

You may use the ZĒNE website for lawful purposes only.

You must not:

Use the website in a way that breaches applicable law or regulations;

Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or its systems;

Interfere with the operation or security of the website;

Copy, reproduce or commercially exploit ZĒNE’s content without our permission; or

Use the website to distribute harmful, misleading or unlawful material.

We may temporarily suspend or restrict access to the website where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security or other legitimate operational reasons.

3. Website content

We aim to ensure that information published on the ZĒNE website is accurate and up to date.

However, we do not guarantee that every piece of information will always be complete, current or free from errors.

Event descriptions, images, schedules and other information may be updated from time to time.

Where a significant change affects a booking you have already made, we will communicate the change where reasonably practicable.

4. Event bookings

When you purchase a ZĒNE event ticket, you are agreeing to purchase admission to the event described on the relevant event page.

The event page will provide important information including, where applicable:

  • Event date and time;

  • Venue;

  • Ticket price;

What is included in the ticket;

  • Any relevant age restrictions;

  • Any important accessibility information; and

  • Any other conditions specific to that event.

The information displayed at checkout forms part of your agreement with ZĒNE.

Your booking is confirmed once payment has been successfully received and we have issued confirmation of your booking.

5. Ticket prices and payment

All prices displayed on our website will be stated in pounds sterling (£), unless otherwise specified.

The total price payable will be shown before you complete your purchase.

We may use third-party payment providers to process payments. Your payment information may be handled directly by the relevant payment provider in accordance with its own terms and privacy policy.

We do not normally have access to your full payment card details.

We reserve the right to correct genuine pricing errors before an order is accepted. If a genuine pricing error affects an order you have already placed, we will contact you and give you the option to proceed at the correct price or receive a full refund.

6. Event cancellations by you

Because ZĒNE events are leisure activities taking place on a specific date or during a specific period, the usual 14-day cancellation right for certain online purchases does not generally apply to event tickets.

Our event-specific refund and cancellation rules will therefore apply.

Unless the relevant event page states otherwise, tickets are generally non-refundable once purchased, subject to any rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

We encourage you to contact us if you can no longer attend. Where reasonably possible, we may allow a ticket to be transferred to another person.

Any transfer is subject to our approval and may be subject to practical restrictions close to the event date.

7. Event cancellations by ZĒNE

If we cancel an event and do not provide a reasonable alternative, you will be entitled to a refund of the amount paid for the affected ticket.

Where an event is postponed or rescheduled, we will communicate the new arrangements and any available options to affected ticket holders.

Nothing in these Terms limits any statutory rights you may have.

8. Changes to events

We may need to make reasonable changes to an event, including changes to:

Speakers or guests;

The programme;

Venue;

Event timings;

Catering;

Activities; or

Other elements of the event.

Where a change is significant and materially affects the event, we will communicate with affected ticket holders and, where appropriate, provide reasonable options.

We will not use this right to make substantial changes to an event while unfairly depriving you of what you paid for.

9. Event venue rules and conduct

When attending a ZĒNE event, you must follow reasonable instructions from ZĒNE, venue staff and event personnel.

You must not:

Behave abusively, threateningly or unlawfully;

Harass or discriminate against another attendee, member of staff, speaker, guest or venue employee;

Damage venue property;

Deliberately disrupt the event; or

Engage in conduct that creates a serious safety risk.

Where reasonably necessary for safety or the proper operation of an event, we may refuse admission to or ask an attendee to leave an event.

Where a person is removed because of serious misconduct, this will not normally entitle them to a refund, subject to applicable consumer law.

10. Accessibility and reasonable adjustments

We want ZĒNE events to be welcoming and accessible.

If you have accessibility requirements or need a reasonable adjustment to attend an event, please contact us before the event where possible.

We will consider reasonable requests and work with the venue or relevant suppliers where necessary.

Accessibility information specific to an event will be provided on the relevant event page where available.

11. Photography, filming and recording

ZĒNE may photograph or record events for legitimate promotional, editorial and archival purposes.

Where photography or filming is taking place, we will provide appropriate notice and, where required, seek consent.

If you do not wish to be included in promotional photography or filming, please speak to a member of the ZĒNE team at the event or contact us in advance.

We will take reasonable steps to respect such requests.

12. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the ZĒNE name, branding, logos, website design, written content, graphics, photographs, videos and other materials created by or for ZĒNE are owned by or licensed to ZĒNE.

You may view and use our website for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

You must not reproduce, modify, distribute, sell or commercially exploit ZĒNE content without our prior written permission.

13. User-generated content

If you voluntarily submit content to ZĒNE, such as photographs, reviews, testimonials or social media content, you remain responsible for that content.

By submitting content to us, you confirm that you have the right to provide it and that doing so does not infringe another person’s rights.

We will only use submitted content for purposes communicated to you or where we have an appropriate legal basis to do so.

14. Third-party websites and services

The ZĒNE website may contain links to websites, retailers, social media platforms or other third-party services.

These websites are not controlled by ZĒNE.

We are not responsible for the content, security or privacy practices of third-party websites.

Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and policies.

15. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect personal information.

By using our website or purchasing from ZĒNE, you acknowledge that your personal information will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

17. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for providing the services you purchase from us with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with your legal rights.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:

Death or personal injury caused by our negligence;

Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;

Breach of your statutory consumer rights; or

Any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

We do not accept responsibility for losses that are not reasonably foreseeable or that are outside the scope of our responsibility under the relevant contract, subject always to your statutory rights.

18. Events outside our reasonable control

Sometimes events may be affected by circumstances outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, serious venue problems, government restrictions, public emergencies, transport disruption, industrial action or other unforeseen circumstances.

Where such circumstances affect an event, we will take reasonable steps to minimise the impact on attendees and communicate any changes as soon as reasonably practicable.

This section does not remove any legal rights you may have to a refund or other remedy.

19. Complaints

If you have a complaint about an event, purchase or our services, please contact us at:

hello@zenesocial.com

Please provide your name, booking information where relevant and details of your complaint.

We aim to acknowledge and respond to complaints within 2–3 working days, although more complicated matters may take longer to investigate.

We will try to resolve complaints fairly and reasonably.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example where our services change or where we need to reflect changes in law.

The version of the Terms that applies to your purchase will generally be the version available when you placed your order, unless a change is required by law or relates to an ongoing relationship with you.

We will not make changes retrospectively in a way that unfairly affects rights you have already acquired.

The latest version will be published on our website.

21. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you may also have the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections that apply in the part of the UK where you live.

Nothing in these Terms prevents you from relying on mandatory consumer rights available to you under applicable law.

22. Entire agreement

These Terms, together with the information provided on the relevant event or booking page and any other policies expressly incorporated into the contract, form the agreement between you and ZĒNE in relation to your purchase or use of the relevant service.

If there is a conflict between these Terms and specific information provided on an event booking page, the specific event information will generally take precedence for that event.

23. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be treated as removed or modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
